PhD Supervision & Internships

PhD Supervision

I welcome enquiries from prospective PhD students whose interests align with the topics below. I do not currently have funded studentships to offer, so applicants will need to secure funding, for example through one of the schemes listed further down this page. Before submitting an application, please email me a short research outline (one to two pages), your CV, and the funding route you intend to pursue.

My current topics of interest:

  • Structural influences on climate stressor exposure, psychological impacts, and recovery.

  • Culture, climate emotions, and sense-making of exposure to climate hazards and information in Global South contexts

  • Community-driven interventions for psychological resilience and adaptation to climate change

  • Novel approaches to promoting public understanding of and support for climate justice (e.g., deliberation, collaboration, dialogic action)

  • Cross-cultural environmental psychology

Internships

I am unable to host visiting PhD students and summer interns in the 2026-27 academic year. However, I welcome enquiries about remote voluntary research assistant roles. These roles are designed to help early-career researchers gain hands-on research experience, develop practical skills such as literature searching, data management and analysis, and receive mentorship on their research and career development. Volunteers work on tasks within my ongoing projects, with the scope and time commitment agreed in advance.

University of Nottingham students can apply to complete an internship with me through the Student Volunteer Researcher (SVORE) scheme.
